The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild amiibo Announced

A new amiibo series based on upcoming Wii U/NX title The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild arrives in 2017, featuring three unique figures.

Revealed during Nintendo’s first day at E3 2016, the new line includes figurines for Link (Archer), Guardian, and Link (Rider). The Guardian amiibo, whose size largely surpasses its base and is the first amiibo to feature flexible parts, is based on a type of enemy found in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

Each of the new amiibo can be purchased separately, although no price point has been announced, and each figure’s specific functionality has yet to be showcased.

In addition to the new Zelda amiibo series, the previously released Wolf Link amiibo will also be compatible with the upcoming title.

When scanned into the game, Wolf Link acts as a companion to the player, attacking nearby enemies as well as gathering resources in the area to be used for health replenishment. Once health is depleted, however, Wolf Link disappears back into the wild; it will possess three heart containers, unless the amiibo contains save data from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is set to arrive simultaneously on Wii U and Nintendo NX in 2017.
