Yoshi’s Woolly World amiibo support will let players scan-in amiibo from the Yarn Yoshi series to receive additional assistance when the game launches this fall.
Unlike other amiibo constructed of plastic materials, the Yarn Yoshi amiibo series is made completely of yarn, yesterday’s Nintendo Direct revealed. When the Yarn Yoshi amiibo series arrives later this year, they will be available in three colors: green, pink, and light blue.
Tapping one of the Yarn Yoshi amiibo on the Wii U GamePad brings a second Yoshi —Double Yoshi — into the game. As with the game’s multiplayer mode, players can turn Double Yoshi into a yarn ball to throw at enemies or cross hazardous areas with ease.

Yoshi’s Woolly World amiibo support aims to provide players with a sense of multiplayer gameplay. “Even when you’re playing single-player, you won’t feel like you’re playing alone,” Nintendo’s Bill Trinen said.
Information for a new mode, Mellow Mode, was also detailed. In Mellow Mode, players can play as Winged Yoshi, allowing them fly throughout stages otherwise not available in the game’s Classic Mode. Both modes can be switched between at any time during gameplay.
Yoshi’s Woolly World, along with amiibo support for the trio of Yarn Yoshi amiibo, arrives on Wii U this fall.
