Watch Dogs Being Released on All Platforms This Spring Except Wii U

Watch Dogs (Ubisoft)

Today, during Ubisoft’s Q3 Financial Results Briefing, it has been announced that Watch Dogs will be released this spring (between April and June) on the following platforms: PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC. Ubisoft says that the Wii U version of Watch Dogs will come “at a later date.”

So, what’s really going on with the Wii U version? Do you think Watch Dogs for Wii U will ultimately be canceled?

  1. I just feel, foolishly perhaps, that honesty and transparency are some of the best values for a company to have. Would it be so awful to make a public statement saying that the Wii U’s current sales numbers won’t calculate into a profit and that Ubisoft is going to wait before they invest in a Watch Dogs Wii U port? Would that be so hard to say? Or is it developing for the GamePad that’s taking a while?

A third-party developer is not doing anyone any favors, especially themselves, when they beat around the bush.

  2. I wouldn’t be surprised in the least. Ubisoft has already taken a giant dump on Nintendo last year by reneging on the Wii U exclusivity of Rayman Legends. I suppose they are due for their 2014 edition of screwing over Nintendo.
