Tantalus Media’s New Wii U Title is a Port From “Top-Notch” Publisher

Creative Kingdoms Loses Patent Lawsuit Against Nintendo

You can bet the farm that Tantalus isn’t going the Funky Barn route.

A few days ago, we reported that Melbourne, Australia-based video game developer Tantalus Media is working on delivering a new AAA title for Wii U. According to the company’s job posting, Tantalus is in need of two contract Engine Programmers to start a “new AAA Next-Gen title in January 2014.” One of the desired skill sets for the position includes having “Nintendo Wii or Wii U development experience.”

We recently contacted Joss Ellis, the company’s director of development, for more information about the title. Here’s what Mr. Ellis has shared with us.

It is a ‘port’ but more of a complete rework for the Wii U: a bit like the work we did on Deus Ex: Human Revolution – Director’s Cut.

I can’t say what the title is but it is very exciting and is for an absolute top notch publisher.

This game will be credited Tantalus … it’s not an MA / 18 or ‘hard core’ game which ME-3 and DX:HR are.

We anxiously await more information about the title and will deliver more news to you as we receive it. If you, or anyone you know, have Wii U development experience, the positions are still available.

What we do know is that the company has a love for BioWare, the creative developers responsible for delivering the Mass Effect and Dragon Age series, Star Wars: The Old Republic, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, and a host of other high-quality software.

What game are you hoping Tantalus bring to Wii U?

  1. Credited Tantalus, not Straight Right. I read somewhere that Straight Right had gone under. Maybe that’s why?

    • Hello, sBrooks.

Tantalus Media’s sister company is Straight Right. I’m not aware, not have I heard otherwise, of Straight Right going under. I mean, they’re DOWN UNDER (see what I did there?) though. And, where did you read this? What’s your source?

on your third game, please, please, please, even if it’s clunky, even if it does require additional functions on the gamepad, just take the set up of conduit, conduit 2, goldeneye, every call of
    please, please
    options are always better

  3. Can you ask if it’s a publisher like Activison, Ubisoft, and the like and not something like Minecraft to see if he’ll indirectly confirm its not it?

    • Hello, Hero of Legend.

Let me think about how to deliver that without pushing too hard. Stay tuned. I can’t promise you anything but if I receive any additional info, we’ll publish it.

  4. So vague… guess we’ll just have to wait and see. I’d rather find out not long before the actual release. The long waits are a killer.
