Paper Mario: Color Splash Paints Wii U on October 7

The next title in the Paper Mario series, Paper Mario: Color Splash, arrives on Wii U on October 7, Nintendo announced today at E3 2016.

Developed by Intelligent Systems, Color Splash was briefly announced during the March 3, 2016 Nintendo Direct. In his latest adventure, Paper Mario — along with familiar friends — will be tasked with restoring the vibrant colors back to a paradise called Prism Island.

While Nintendo has yet to confirm specific distribution details, retailer Amazon’s website lists a “Paper Mario: Color Splash – Wii U Standard Edition” at the suggested retail price of $59.99, which may suggest a special or limited edition may be offered at some point.

If you happened to miss the game’s announcement from the March Nintendo Direct, we’ve included it below.

  1. Wonder if they’ll be taking long-time player’s concerns into consideration. There was a good point made that in Sticker Star you mostly just did battles for the sake of it since there was no experience or character progression. I understand Sticker Star was an experiment at ‘an RPG without an RPG formula’ and I quite enjoyed it, and I’m sure other new players did as well. But veterans have been notably unimpressed. Might be good if Colour Splash tried to appeal to veterans as well as newbies.

Personally I’ve really wanted to see a sort of fusion between Sticker Star’s gameplay and Thousand Year Door’s.
