Metroidvania-inspired indie title Nephil’s Fall has been successfully funded on Kickstarter and plans to share its fantastical platforming with Wii U owners later this year.
Newly formed Croatian indie studio Exordium Games was seeking to raise $30,000 for their Kickstarter campaign to fund the development of Nephil’s Fall. During the final hours, a total of $32,656 was contributed to the project from 268 supporters (backers).
In Nephil’s Fall, it’s all about going backwards. Literally. Players traverse levels from right to left, rather than left to right. But gameplay isn’t the only aspect that plays in reverse; the deep storyline also follows suit.
At the start, the ancient guardian Nephil (who you control) is able to draw upon the power of the four essences of the world: earth, fire, air, and water. These essences give Nephil special abilities ranging from a ground smashing slam to blazing fireballs.
To save the world and progress, however, Nephil must sacrifice each essence back to nature, losing the ability to use each one. The most important part of the story has already taken place, so it will be your job to figure out what previously occurred in the dark corrupt world.

Nephil’s Fall is “an epic 2d fantasy platformer with metroidvania gameplay, several unique mechanics, beautifully illustrated interactive environments, a deep story-line and great replayability potential,” Exordium Games said on the game’s Kickstarter page.
Nephil’s Fall is planned for release on Wii U, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Steam, Windows, and Mac platforms later this year.
