Popular indie Metroidvania game Axiom Verge from developer Thomas Happ Games is being ported for Wii U, with a planned eShop release later this year.
Last June, we asked the game’s creator, Thomas Happ, about the likelihood of a 2016 Wii U release for Axiom Verge. Happ told us “Yeah, it’s a strong possibility.” That confirmation has now finally arrived.
In an update posted to the official Axiom Verge website on Monday, Happ announced that developer BlitWorks will be handling the Wii U port. “Sickhead Games is again doing the Xbox One port, while BlitWorks is handling the Wii U SKU,” Happ said. “We don’t know exactly when they’ll release yet but it’ll be this year, and definitely after the Vita release.”
Happ also plans to show off playable demos for the Xbox One and Wii U version of Axiom Verge during this year’s PAX East event, which takes place in Boston, Mass. from April 22-24.
