Super Mario RPG Lands on Wii U Virtual Console Today

Classic SNES favorite Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars arrives on the Wii U Virtual Console service in North America later today.

Mario, Bowser, Princess Peach, Geno, and Mallow must work together to recover the seven stars and repair Star Road. Gain experience, level up, and journey across several locations in pursuit of the evil Smithy.

When Super Mario RPG becomes available on the eShop, fans can purchase it for $7.99, according to Nintendo’s website. The timeless hit, developed by Square (now Square Enix), originally released on SNES in 1996 across Japan and the Americas.

The manual of the North American version does not list any statistics about Princess Toadstool, despite the fact that she joins the party and is playable in battle,” notes a trivia tidbit on Super Mario Wiki.

Super Mario RPG launched on the Japanese Wii U Virtual Console in August 2015 and the following December for the European region; it was previously ported and released on the Wii Virtual Console service in 2008.
