Picross e7 Announced for Nintendo 3DS eShop

The next game in the popular Picross puzzle series, Picross e7, arrives on the Nintendo 3DS eShop next week, developer Jupiter announced today.

Owners of Japanese Nintendo 3DS systems will first be able to purchase Picross e7 starting on Wednesday, April 27 for 500 yen (about $4.50). While Nintendo of America and Nintendo of Europe have not yet announced the title, there’s a good chance puzzle connoisseurs will eventually see it; Picross e1-e7 is available for purchase on the eShop, after all.

An assortment of Mega Picross and Micross puzzles will supplement the included 150 panels, each sized at 20×15. In total, Picross e7 offers more than 300 puzzles and is compatible with save data from Picross e1, Picross e2, and Picross e3.

For the first time in the series, players can temporarily mark grids in order to help them complete the puzzle without suffering a time penalty.

While North American and European 3DS owners await their chance to play the new entry, there’s always My Nintendo Picross: The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess to complete. But maybe you’ve already done that.

  1. I’ve yet to play any of the E-Series Picross games; do they use the touch control system that My Nintendo Picross used (where you’d toggle what you’d be marking with, but you have to press up/down twice) or the one that Picross DS, Pokemon Picross, and, as far as can I recall, both Picross 3D games used (where you’d have to hold the dpad/circle pad up or down to fill in a square or mark it with an x)?

Regardless, I’m excited to hear that the main Picross series is still in active development!
