Kick & Fennick, a colorful and futuristic platformer about a young boy armed with a big gun, will make the jump to the Wii U eShop on June 2.
Originally launched on PlayStation Vita in February 2015, developer Jaywalkers Interactive is now partnering with publisher and game adaptation studio Abstraction Games to bring the unique title to home consoles.
As Kick, a young boy who awakens in a world of color and chaos, players will embark toward the highest point of the city in order to save Fennick, Kick’s new robot sidekick, from a failing energy core. Using a large sniper-like gun, players will take advantage of the weapon’s power and recoil to blast and jump their way through a 45-level gauntlet of platforming goodness.
The action platformer, which took home Best Entertainment Game Design honors from the 2015 Dutch Game Awards, promises to introduce fans of the traditional 3D platformer genre to a new blend of creative design, cinematic style animation, and a smooth physics engine.
“We’ve had fantastic reactions and can’t wait for a wider audience to be able to play through it,” said Vincent Bonefass, co-founder of Jaywalkers Interactive. “Platforming fans looking for a breath of fresh air in the genre should definitely check it out.”
Kick & Fennick is also slated to release on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 one day after the Wii U version, on June 3. While this will be Jaywalker’s first release on home consoles, Abstraction Games previously worked on adaptations for A Boy and His Blob and Pixel Piracy.
