A kick in the digital pants
The Nintendo 3DS eShop version of RPG soccer title Inazuma Eleven will not be making its way to the UK regions, LEVEL-5 today announced.
While highlighting that the decision was challenging, LEVEL-5 deems the title “unsuitable” because of the American English voice acting and downloadable game size constraints.
The title is a remastered version of the original 2008 installment released on Nintendo DS in Japan — and in Europe/UK in 2011 — and features stereoscopic 3D and updated visuals. Following last month’s Nintendo Direct presentation, an eShop-only version was released in North America and Australia; interestingly, it was also released in France, Germany, Italy, and Spain.
Here’s the official announcement from LEVEL-5:
“Thank you for your interest in INAZUMA ELEVEN. We regret to inform you that LEVEL-5 International America, Inc. has no plans to release the Nintendo 3DS eShop version of INAZUMA ELEVEN in the UK regions. While this was a challenging decision, it was deemed unsuitable to release a game with American English voice acting in a territory in which the franchise has been so firmly established with the British English voice cast and downloadable game size constraints prevented us from including both English voice options.”
