Level-5’s Yo-kai Watch 2 haunts North America this September with two new versions exclusive to Nintendo 3DS: Bony Spirits and Fleshy Souls.
The new entries will offer adventurers fresh areas to explore, over 100 new Yo-kai, a new-and-improved Yo-kai Watch for the game’s 11-year-old protagonist, Nate Adams, and the ability to travel back in time. Each new game in the quirky RPG series will introduce rare Yo-kai found only in their respective version.
“After being such a massive sensation in Japan, it’s great to see the U.S. start to embrace the mischievous and lovable Yo-kai,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s Executive Vice President of Sales & Marketing. “We’re excited to continue bringing fun Yo-kai experiences stateside this year.”
The original Yo-kai Watch launched on Nintendo 3DS in North America on November 6, 2015. In our review, we praised the game for its “cast of wacky and memorable monsters” and “unique battle system and captivating world,” awarding it 4 out of 5 stars.
Yo-kai Watch 2: Bony Spirits and Yo-kai Watch 2: Flashy Souls will launch in North America on September 30. The new video game installments have not yet been announced for fans in Europe, but news on that should surface in the near future.
In addition to Yo-kai Watch 2, toy maker Hasbro will add new toys to its existing Yo-kai Watch line this fall, while Disney XD will air a second animated TV series this summer.
Japan is set to receive Yo-kai Watch 3, also on Nintendo 3DS, next month in two flavorful installments: Yo-kai Watch 3: Sushi and Yo-kai Watch 3: Tempura.
