New Galaxy Edition New Nintendo 3DS XL Announced

Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime today announced the “New Galaxy Style” New Nintendo 3DS XL, and it’s available this week.

Fils-Amie showed off the galaxy-themed New Nintendo 3DS XL system to fans in a surprise video trailer, released via social media, this morning.

“We’re shipping these beauties today, so you should be able to find them in your local stores starting this week,” Fils-Amie said in the one-minute video reveal. The ‘New Galaxy Style’ New Nintendo 3DS XL is available at a suggested retail price of $199.99.”

The new 3DS system arrives ahead of the NES Classic Edition, a mini replica version of the original 1985 system that comes bundled with 30 games, set to hit store shelves in November 2016.

As with previous Nintendo 3DS hardware, the “New Galaxy Style” does not include the AC adapter or any game software. However, it does include a 4GB microSD card for digital storage.

Nintendo has not yet announced the out-of-this-world handheld for Europe, Japan, or any other regions. You can check out the trailer below, along with some images for the system.

  1. I’ve been waiting for so long for a n3DS model that will prompt me to buy it, but Nintendo just can’t figure out what I want. I wanted the red Smash Bros. one- lol Japan only. The SNES one, again Japan-only. Two weeks ago, my heart skipped a beat when I saw a deep red one, but it actually turned out to be orange, meh. Now they have this one, which I absolutely would have gotten, if it wasn’t PURPLE! Why not blue?
