Rosanna Pansino Serves Up Some Of Her Nintendo Love‏

Web personality, baker, and all-around nerd — Rosanna Pansino has risen to popularity in the last year through her YouTube show Nerdy Nummies. She bakes tasty treats based on popular culture, including nods to Nintendo such as Pikachu chocolate roll cakes and Piranha Plant cookie pops. Rosanna Pansino’s fame even earned her a Gold Pants Mii that Nintendo distributed via SpotPass.

Nintendo News recently got an opportunity to ask the YouTube star some questions about her love of Nintendo and her video channel. Read on to see what Rosanna Pansino had to say!

Nintendo News: To start off our tasty interview, can I get your name and a brief background of what you do?
Rosanna Pansino: My name is Rosanna Pansino. I am the creator, host, and producer of the online baking show called Nerdy Nummies. On the show I bake all sorts of geeky goodies inspired by my favorite video games, comics, sci-fi, math, science and more!

NN: You run one of the most successful baking channels on YouTube. What is your background in cooking and baking? How did your journey start and what was the inspiration behind making Nerdy Nummies?
RP: I’ve been baking since I was very young. My grandmother used to bake all the time and as I got older, I started to bake more themed treats for my friends.

NN: How do you go about getting ripe ideas for your show? What do you look for when deciding what delicious recipe to make next?
RP: I get inspiration from all over. A lot of ideas from fans, new video games, my favorite characters, family etc.

NN: How has your channel grown and changed over time? What is your response to the sudden fame and popularity?
RP: Over the years I have loved seeing fans recreate recipes and sharing them with me. My channel has started to feel like a community of people who enjoy being creative.

NN: You have a passion for all things geeky. What about Nintendo in particular inspires you? What are your favorite Nintendo games and characters?
RP: It’s great to see Nintendo’s new games and adaptations of the classics I played growing up. A couple of my favorites are Zelda, Mario Kart, Pokémon and Super Mario.

NN: What’s your favorite Nintendo-inspired video you’ve made? Which one “takes the cake,” so to speak?
RP: The fun thing about Nintendo is that they have so many interesting and unique characters to get inspiration from. I don’t ever find myself running out of ideas and don’t think I could pick a favorite.

NN: This question may be a bit of a stretch, but stay with me on this. What would a Nerdy Nummies video game be like? Would it be a cooking simulator, or would players also get to swallow their Rice Krispy Stars before pummeling Bowser?
RP: A Nerdy Nummies video game would be a dream come true. There are so many possibilities.

NN: Nintendo recently featured you as a guest visitor in the StreetPass Mii Plaza on Nintendo 3DS. How did this come about? How did it feel to have the opportunity to parade around everyone’s 3DS in gold pants?
RP: It is such an honor to be a gold pants character. It has been really exciting to see everyone’s pictures of finding my Mii on their StreetPass.

NN: You attended E3 2014. What unreleased Nintendo games did you get to play and what were your impressions? What games are you looking forward to the most?
RP: I had the opportunity to play Hyrule Warriors, which was a lot of fun. Most recently at home I have been playing Mario Kart 8 almost every day. For future releases, I am most excited about the new Super Smash Bros.

NN: What is your relationship with the fans? How have they changed and shaped the series? How much do you go to them for ideas or honor their requests?
RP: I love my fans. They are the ones who inspire me to keep creating. I really value their comments and suggestions for new ideas and to learn about games or series I haven’t seen yet.

NN: What’s next for you and Nerdy Nummies? Any changes you plan on making, new recipes you want to experiment with, or new types of videos you want to branch out into? What are your dreams and aspirations?
RP: There are so many things I want to make on Nerdy Nummies, the possibilities are limitless. My goal is the keep creating fun content for my fans!

NN: Is there anything you want to say to the Nintendo fans of the world?
RP: Game on! =)
