Both StarTropics games, originally released on NES, are making their way to the Wii U Virtual Console service in North America later today.
StarTropics follows the adventures of Mike Jones, a teenage baseball pitcher from Seattle who discovers that his uncle, a famous archeologist by the name of Dr. Jones, has been abducted. Mike’s journey to find his uncle is filled with brain-bending puzzles, treasure and, of course, dangerous foes.
Zoda’s Revenge: StarTropics II, a direct sequel to the first game, challenges the young Mike Jones with a new expedition — this time through time and space. He’ll need to save seven mystic Tetrads while facing the avengers of his foiled foe, the evil Zoda.
Both games, developed and published by Nintendo, never made it to the Japanese region. And Zoda’s Revenge, the second-to-last licensed game released on NES in March of 1994, was launched exclusively in North America.
If you’re down for some old-school challenge and adventure, both games will be available to purchase and download later today on the Wii U Virtual Console; they were previously released in Europe last September.
