Released into the wild just five days ago, Android users in the U.S. have downloaded and installed Pokémon GO more than 5 million times.
It’s safe to say Niantic Labs’ new augmented reality Pokémon game has proven to be a hit since launching last week. Interestingly, the game is currently competing with social media giant Twitter for the most Daily Active Users for Android users in the U.S.
But there’s something else worth noting. According to the Google Play store, Pokémon GO has staked its claim on somewhere between 5 and 10 million Android-powered devices. Even Nintendo’s first smart device app, Miitomo, released last March, hasn’t broke the 10 million milestone.
Nintendo News will continue to monitor Pokémon GO’s impact on the mobile market as the weeks go by, and time will if the Pokémon craze will keep players coming back for more virtual pocket monsters.
