Pirouette Like a Pro in Pokémon Sun & Moon

Pulling off the perfect pirouette is a complicated art, but Trainers can practice whirling and twirling all they want in Pokémon Sun & Moon.

In Pokémon games previous to Sun & Moon, it’s possible for Trainers to walk, run, ride bikes, and even roller skate. With yesterday’s release of the games’ Special Demo Version, fans have learned about another method of “transportation,” so to speak.

To perform your own pirouette, simply rotate the analog Circle Pad in a circular motion from left to right, or right to left. If done correctly, your Trainer will automatically transition into perfect form for everyone to see.

Pirouettes can be executed for however long your rotating digit allows for. Our record is about 20 seconds or so. Sadly, it’s not possible to send Tauros into a spin cycle while riding it — we already tried.

There’s one other new detail worth noting as well. By repeatedly pressing the “B” button (to run) while walking, your Trainer will stumble. Try it out — it’s a real trip.

You can check out our pixel-perfect pirouette in the not-so-pixel-perfect video below. How long can you whirl around without stopping for a break?

Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon on Nintendo 3DS debut in North America and Japan on November 18. Both games arrive in Europe a few days later, on November 23.
