What Super Smash Bros. fan doesn’t like bouncing their opponents off slippery imaginary glass? Up until today, details weren’t known as to how exactly K.O.s will work in the upcoming pair of Super Smash Bros. installments. Specifically, the Screen K.O.
While not a new play mechanic in the popular fighting series, the Screen K.O. does return for fighters to enjoy — with a few new enhancements that fans should be aware of while battling it out.
Super Smash Bros. series director Masahiro Sakurai has outlined a few of those important details. And it looks like characters will even receive noticeable damage received from their opponents. Take a look at Little Mac’s bruised and bandaged face in the above image, for example. (And, is that the female Villager in the background having herself a hearty chuckle?)
Here’s the message that Mr. Sakurai has shared with fans via his most recent Miiverse post.
Here’s a Screen K.O. shot. There are also patterns where players will disappear into the sky for Star K.O.s, but as a match’s time limit approaches, those K.O.s will not occur anymore.
Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS will be released on October 3, while the Wii U version is slated to debut this holiday season. Be sure to check out all of our other news coverage on Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS.
