Following its successful 60-day Indiegogo funding campaign of a cool $450,000, Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn — assisted by over 1,100 interested donators — has today been confirmed for Wii U, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC. The campaign commenced on March 6th, 2014 and ended just minutes ago with plenty of chump change to spare.
While a release window has yet to be announced by its development team, Big Deez Productions, we expect new information to surface in the near future. Big Deez has been involved with franchises such as: HALO, Street Fighter, Final Fantasy, Alan Wake, Spec Ops: The Line, Battlefield, Killzone, Max Payne, Duke Nukem, among others.
In the early stages of the campaign, a 3DS stretch goal was set at $960,000 but was later removed. A Wii U stretch goal, initially set at $1,080,000, was also removed and added as one of the supported platforms with the game’s newly adjusted funding goal of $450,000.
Fans who contributed a specified amount of money were open to a cornucopia of compensatory rewards in the form of “perks.” One supportive donator even contributed $35,000 in order to claim the one-time offer “DJ SHAQ” perk — Shaq will be traveling to that person’s house in the near future to play a special DJ set for his or her house party.
Other one-time limit perks that were claimed include Dinner with Shaq ($20,000) and Ballin’ at Shaq’s Shack ($15,000). The ten-limit Signed Shaq Sneaker for $3,000 was also fully claimed. (How’s a size 22 original Vintage Reebok Shaq sneaker sound?)
With Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn now confirmed, it seems ShaqFu.com — a “fan-site” whose sole mission is to “LIBERATE all the copies of Shaq-Fu from existence by buying them from anyone who owns the game, including local console retailers, Ebay merchants, normal citizens, and the like — will have their hands full.
