May the best junk win.

From January 10th through Friday, January 31st, players can show off their top-notch NostalJunk — pictures of real-world objects taken with the 3DS camera by using special in-game silhouette film — for a chance to earn the title of Top NostalJunk and some high-powered exclusive in-game items. Here’s how it works.

  1. Nintendo will distribute NostalJunk Challenges — as well as any Chibi-Robo!: Photo Finder game announcements, notifications of nomination, and in-game rewards — via Nintendo 3DS SpotPass. So you’ll need to make sure you have SpotPass enabled for this title.
  2. Each Challenge notification will provide details about which silhouette film the player must use for the Challenge.
  3. Select the silhouette film’s corresponding artifact that’s displayed in the exhibition space. If there is no artifact on display, players will need to transport one back into the game by taking a picture of one from the real world.
  4. After the Challenge concludes, Nintendo will review the submissions and select 10 nominees that have displayed the most creativity and cleverness. Nintendo will then make the nominees available for download via SpotPass notification.
  5. Upon receiving the nominee notification, players can visit the judging room in their NostalJunk museum to vote for their favorite artifacts. The winning nominee will receive a special outfit (in two colors) for Chibi-Robo to wear in the game. Runners-up will be awarded the outfit in one color.
  6. Players selected as nominees and those who receive votes for their submission will be notified via SpotPass.

Please note: All NostalJunk Challenges are available only for the full version of Chibi-Robo!: Photo Finder. The demo version of the game does not receive the Challenge notifications via SpotPass.

Lastly, on a separate note, players that have the demo and full version of the game are able to share their in-game images using Nintendo’s 3DS Image Share Tool. That means in-game pictures can be taken using the Nintendo 3DS camera and shared to social networking services Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr. See our article Chibi-Robo!: Photo Finder Works With Nintendo 3DS Image Share Tool for more details.

Chibi-Robo!: Photo Finder is available on the North American 3DS eShop for $9.99. Additionally, the title is also available on the Japanese 3DS eShop for 1,500 yen. A free demo of the game is also available for both regions.
